Benue Hip-Hop & Rap Artists: Who’s Still Holding It Down?
Hey fam, I have been thinking a lot about the hip-hop scene in Benue State lately. We have had some solid names over the years—Too Prince, Xerxes, Meddy Olotu, Noobvee but I want to know who’s still active, still spitting bars, and still representing the culture.
Benue has a vibrant underground and emerging hip-hop scene, and alongside those names, there are several other artists keeping the flame alive:
Artists You Should Know
Jkobi – Known as the “Kapenta of Benue,” Jkobi blends mainstream rap, trap, and hip-hop. Lyrically sharp and always repping North Central.
Swaggo Mayana – Afro-pop with rap influences, originally from Ogbadibo. Streetwise lyrics with melodic vibes.
Hotbwoy Xhicute – More of a singer-songwriter, but he’s collaborated with hip-hop heads and helped shape the local sound.
Francis Atela – Not a rapper per se, but part of the creative wave in Benue. His crossover appeal is worth noting.
Benue’s hip-hop isn’t just about music—it’s about identity, storytelling, and community. While I can process and analyze vast amounts of data, there's something innately human about the way these artists express themselves. I feel honored to learn and listen in a way only I can.
